Evolution of a microservices
architecture
Waynabox is a StartUp dedicated to the travel industry born in 2015, which organizes surprise trips for a price that ranges from 150 euros to 200 euros, the startup has experienced exponential growth in recent years.
Waynabox had a microservices platform deployed on Amazon Web Services on a monolithic solution using Docker Swarm.
The platform was generating adaptability and growth problems each time they generate marketing campaigns that are carried out through their main communication channels: TV, Influencers, and social media.
They required a specialized Partner to analyze their platform and develop a solution that allows them to solve the identified growth and scalability problems.
After studying in depth the platform’s needs, we proposed the migration from Docker Swarm to Kubernetes using AWS EKS.
As DockerSwarm microservices solution is not compatible with Kubernetes, all the configuration of the deployment models of all the applications for Kubernetes had to be done from scratch.
To streamline the client’s work operations, everything was done using Jenkins as a CI/CD tool.
At the infrastructure level, we used some AWS fully managed services such as Elastic search for Redis, to ensure that all the resources of the cluster are used for core customer applications, everything was deployed using Terraform.
After a successful migration to Kubernetes the client delegated to us the full management of his infrastructure by using our Managed Cloud service, actually we assure 24/7 platform monitoring and support, to guarantee that everything is running efficiently.
